REFLECTION INSIGHTS

The primary resason that this mobile application deserves recognition is that it offers unique ways to interact with brands in similar ways that AR codes expands or is likely to replace the capabilities of QR codes. Since many runway shows rely heavily on the use of branding touchpoints, this seems to be the only mobile application that would allow for both scanning and video tagging techniques to co-exist. The visual research and observational experience combined demonstrate the potentials and the actual situation on hand for further prototyping in the future. There are other considerable areas that can be futher explored which relates to this mobile application, such as body scanning for mass customization without necessarily having to physically try-on brand garments and 3D virtual avatars in online retail shopping.

THE RUNWAY EXPERIENCE

A mobile application designed to seek ways in which fashion show members and industry professionals can enhance their brand platform by incorporating the use of scanning and video tagging techniques via both live stream and media playback. This project was initially inspired by the original augmented reality concepts that incorporates the physical environment of the user in order to connect fashion luxury advertising garments and products found in both print and digital magazines with those featured on ready-to-wear (or runway) to tailored audiences. STATUS | PATENT PENDING

I. Scanning

The scanning feature has a default or custom mode which requires the user to select a color tag in order to find out more information on a particular item or person of interest during the actual live runway show. Next, the user proceeds to drag the color tag towards the area of interest (i.e. garment) that will display e-commerce product information, purchase and wish list, lookbook galleries, and live comment feeds. These options present an opportunity for the user to interactively engage with the various brands present and participate in the ongoing media platform conversation.

II. Video Tagging

The video tagging feature is one that occurs during media playback. However, it is mostly designed for the general audience who may not be physically present at the runway show, whereby thus making it also potential to occur via live stream. There are live comments that are assigned a color tag which will make it appear at various time intervals during playback, including symbol indicators embedded within the video. Once the user selects a symbol indicator, it will display e-commerce product information, purchase, and wish list, lookbook galleries, and live comment feeds.
